What To Look For When Choosing Luxury Bedding

Just bought a king size bed, huh? Now it's time to fit your new Sealy posturepedic with layers of comfy sheets!

Choosing Luxury Bedding seems a little daunting since the days of Disney sheets and Scooby Doo pyjamas. What does one look for when purchasing luxury bedding? Here are a few things to consider.

What kind of bed do you have? If you just bought a king, of course, you would purchase king sheets. There are different kinds though - California King (or super king) and regular king so keep that in mind. There are sheets for twin, full (or double), canopy,  and even queen size beds. There is even sheets with extended length if you like an extra fold for style or extra coverage.

Next you need to think about the decor and style. Nothing ties the style of a bedroom together more than the bedding. Black furniture would be excellent with an Asian themed set with matching comforter and shams. Pull it all together with an accent color for the curtains and your room would look like HGTV designed it. Or you can choose a print such as floral, zebra , striped or even a solid color to accent the oak or cherry wood bedroom sets in your home.

Choosing luxury bedding means you also have to pick what kind of fabric and thread count you may want. You can use silk, satin, linen, and bamboo fabrics. The most popular is cotton. There are different kinds of cotton bedding - Pima, Supima, and Egyptian which is considered the best.

Egyptian cotton has long fine staple fibers which is more involved to process. It does cost more than the others but feels extremely soft.  For the comforters and throws you can add textures such as chenille, damask, toile, fur or sateen. These textures have a different kind of weave compared to the other fabrics.

Thread count ranges from 80 to 1200 count. Thread count is basically the amount of fibers woven together per square-inch of fabric. The closer together the fibers are the softer and smoother the feel of the cloth. There is more of a cost for a higher thread count.

Remember when choosing luxury bedding, pick the right size, keep in mind your bedroom decor, and select the fabric and thread count that appeals to you and your budget.

I've got a waterbed and often find it difficult to find comfortable sheets for it. The waterbed is naturally quite warm from ambient temperature in the summer so I've tried silk sheets on the bed because I like silk close to my skin. They do have a tendency to slide about a bit and the pillows can be a bit difficult to control but I've got used to them and quite like their cool feel.

I like cotton sheets as well. But I've also found that choosing the right thread count can make a real big difference. I bought a nice pair of cotton sheets with a very high thread count but found that in the summer they were incredibly hot. They were made from Egyptian cotton so were very soft and really comfortable but too much for us in the summer. If you want to buy Egyptian cotton sheets to use in the summer it's best to go for a thread count no higher than 400.

I've always chosen cotton when I go to buy sheets. I've always found cotton to be a very breathable material and always seem to waken up in the morning feeling refreshed and cool. I find that cotton is a very easy material to keep clean. It washes very well and is quite easy to iron on my ironing press.

I bought some bamboo sheets as well recently. I like them because they have this wonderful natural absorbent quality. apparently they are much more absorbent than cotton sheets so they soak up much more of the moisture that you give off when you're sleeping. I feel they keep me really cool and I wake up feeling fresh in the morning.

I bought some bamboo towels and matching sheets just a little while ago. They are rather unusual but I bought them because they are naturally antibacterial and that's great for me because I've got a skin allergy and it prevents me from getting a rash on my skin.

We have cream-colored bedroom sets in the bedroom. They've been there for a number of years but still quite fresh. We just bought a new bed but it's a lot bigger than the one we had before so I had to make some changes to the bedroom sets so I could get it to fit into the room. It was worth the effort though because the room looks really nice and the bed is much more comfortable than the one we had before.

We bought some nice new cotton Egyptian sheets, for our king-size bed this week. We've always liked cotton sheets because they have these long fibers that are really warm and comfortable. We've chosen white for the new sheets but bought a nice new bright colored duvet cover to match the decoration in our room. We really like it.
